Spotlighting

If you spotlight multiple people, will they all be on the screen the whole time or only when each of them speak?

Spotlight video puts up to 9 participants as the primary active speakers for all participants, and participants will only see these speakers. Spotlighting can also be done during screen sharing.

I am asking will spotlightlight cause all 5 for example spotlit people to be on the screen the whole time or will they only appear when each person speaks?

All 5 should all appear on participant's view at the same time.

How do I turn spotlight on?  I am attempting to do so before a meeting, to spotlight myself...can it only 'show up' as an option once there is more than one person? (i can't see 'pin' option by myself)
