A friend has a Student account which he said has a longer time limit for zoom meetings with multiple people than the free 40 minutes account does. My question is we do a podcast and are expecting to go longer than the 40 mins for my free account. I am the one that does the editing of the podcast. If he opens the meeting and then we all join in, can I record longer than the 40 mins because he is the Host with the account that lets it happen?

Yes, the student must schedule the meeting and begin it. Once you join, the student can give you permission to record locally, and the meeting (and recording) will be able to last beyond 40 minutes.
