Recording Deleted From Trash

Can admins recover a recording after it's been deleted from the trash?
Also, does the admin get notified if a user deletes a recording? and permanently deletes it from the trash as well?

Welcome to the Zoom Community, @SecretSauce.

There are only 3 states of Cloud recordings:

  • It's in the current recordings listing
  • It's in the trash
  • It's gone.

So if it's not in either the regular listing or the trash, it's gone.

Normally there are no emails sent to admins when users delete recordings from their meetings.  For most admins, this notification would be inundating, to say the least.

If you want to stop users from being able to delete their own recordings, you can disable this setting in the Admin -> Account Management -> Account Settings menu on the Recordings tab:

Doing this places the burden of managing your Cloud Recording volume on you and other administrators.  It is possible to give permission to delete recordings to a supervisor; this would require the creation of a Group with the people who are not permitted to delete their own recordings, and a special Role to assign to those who are permitted to delete recordings of that specific group.  I haven't seen this specific situation before, but it's possible to do.  Reach out to me if you want more guidance.
