Meeting Password Randomly Changing

When I set up a meeting and create that meetings password, I then copy and paste the notification and put it in our Google Calendar. However, recently we have been noticing that the password is changing before the meeting with NO ONE making a password edit. How can you help me fix this issue as it has happened over a dozen times?

Hello @AHaroldKokes

Please describe more in detail how you are creating your meetings. Is this through the web portal, the application, a calendar add-on (i.e. google/O365)? Secondly, where do you notice the password change? Is this in the meeting itself when you go to join, is it different on the web portal versus google calendar? Please provide as extensive of detail as you can concerning your full workflow and replication of the issue so you can be better assisted.

Thank you,
Jake

Jake,

I create Zoom meetings directly on the Zoom website (web portal), where I set a custom password for each meeting. After the meeting is created, I copy the meeting details—including the password—and paste them into the Description section of our Google Calendar event. This process involves manually copying the meeting password from the Zoom web portal after creation, then pasting it into Google Calendar.

The issue occurs on the day of the meeting when participants try to join and report that the password doesn't work. I then log back into the Zoom web portal to verify the meeting details, and I find that the password has changed. The password now matches the password from a previous meeting I created, sometimes one that was scheduled weeks or even a month prior. This change is only evident when I check the Zoom web portal; the Google Calendar event still shows the original password, which is no longer valid for joining the meeting.

To replicate the issue, I:

  1. Create a Zoom meeting on the Zoom web portal and set a custom password.

  2. Copy the meeting details (including the password) and paste them into the Description section of our Google Calendar event.

  3. On the day of the meeting, when participants try to join, they cannot use the password that was provided.

  4. I log into the Zoom web portal to check the meeting details, and the password displayed is the one from a previous meeting, not the custom one I set.

I confirmed that the correct password was displayed in the meeting details when I created the meeting, and that’s the password I copied to Google Calendar.

Let me know if you need any further information or clarification on my workflow!

Thank you for your assistance,
