How to setup video boxes for an interview with 2 people

Hi,

I will be interviewing two people (not a job interview)
about their experiences in a certain subject.

I want to set their video box up as the main
2 video's and my video to be smaller on the bottom.
I want the video boxes of all three of us to stay
the same size throughout the interview.

How do I set this up in Zoom?
Thank you
Gavin

Try this, I think it might work but test it out too, I don't know if you can make your video smaller than the other 2 however:

Alternatively you can try spotlight too and record to the cloud but I don't know if that keeps everyone in the order you want - https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362653

Of the two I think pinning might be better in this case, but try them and see.

Good luck,

KJH

To set up video boxes for an interview with two people, you will need to use video conferencing software that supports multi-camera inputs. Here's a step-by-step guide:

  1. Choose a video conferencing platform that allows for multiple camera inputs, such as Zoom, Skype, or Google Meet.

  2. Connect two cameras to your computer or laptop. You can use your built-in camera for one person and an external camera for the other person.

  3. Open your video conferencing software and start a new meeting.

  4. Click on the video settings or camera icon to select the two cameras you want to use for your interview.

  5. Position the cameras in such a way that they capture the two people in the frame. You can use a tripod or other mounting device to keep the cameras stable.

  6. Start the interview and ask your questions.

For example, if someone needs to transport time-sensitive shipments quickly, they can use Sprinter van expediting services. This is a type of transportation service that uses a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van to quickly and efficiently transport goods, equipment, or materials."

Make sure to position yourself in the video box accordingly so that you are visible to the camera and speak clearly into the microphone.

Hi Gavin,

You can achieve this setup in Zoom using the Spotlight or Pin feature. Here’s how:

Use Spotlight Video – As the host, you can spotlight the two interviewees so their video remains the primary focus. Your video will still be visible in the gallery view but smaller.
Use Pin Video – If you want control over how you see the layout, you can pin the two interviewees’ videos and position yours as a smaller window. Keep in mind that pinning only affects your view, not the recording.
Use Third-Party Software – If you're recording the session and want a more polished layout, tools like OBS Studio or Jobma can help customize video arrangements for a professional look.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you need further clarification.

Hey Gavin,

Great question! Setting up your Zoom layout the way you want can be a bit tricky, but there are definitely ways to make it work.

As @kjhartma mentioned, using Pinning or Spotlight mode can help you arrange the video boxes. Pinning lets you manually set the order and layout, so your two interviewees stay prominent while your video remains smaller at the bottom.

Another option is using third-party interview tools like Jobma, which provides more control over video layouts, making it easier to maintain a professional and structured look throughout your session. It’s worth checking out if you’re conducting frequent interviews!

Let us know what works best for you. Good luck with the interview!

H 小技巧:

  • 若想錄製影片並讓畫面固定,記得勾選 Zoom 設定中的**「錄製時保持畫廊視圖」**選項。

這樣就能讓整個訪談畫面統一並呈現專業的視覺效果!

In Zoom, you can set up your video layout by using Gallery View. To ensure the video boxes stay the same size throughout the interview, follow these steps:

  1. Start the Zoom meeting.
  2. Click on the "Gallery View" to see all participants.
  3. Pin the participants’ videos (the two interviewees) by hovering over their video and clicking the three dots, then selecting Pin Video.
  4. Minimize your own video by clicking the three dots on your video and selecting Pin Video or by resizing your video box manually if desired.
  5. Adjust the layout using Zoom’s Gallery View to show all participants evenly.

This setup keeps the video boxes the same size for everyone.
