I want to record a yoga class and only spotlight myself on the recording so there is no problem with data protection issue. However I need to view everyone on the screen during the live class so I can correct their posture if required and for health and safety reasons.
Currently if I pin myself that only records myself which is what I want. However it makes the other people on the zoom show as very small boxes at the top of the screen and I cannot see them properly.
Any suggestions to solve this are welcome
thanks in anticipation
Melanie

@DRMELANIE , sorry for the delay, my day job got in the way and I wanted to test this before I suggested anything. What I found was (assuming you have a paid account) that if you check the box in Recording Settings to record speaker view separately, you can record to the cloud and spotlight yourself, but then click on 'Gallery View'' in your recording options and you should be able to see everyone on your computer, but they will only see you (and the recording should only have you).

@DRMELANIE - Do you have access to a second screen so you can have the participants on 1 screen and the speaker on the other?

Hello I don't at present have access to a 2nd screen... is that the only way I can make it work for me in this case so I can record just myself and see my class?
I am using an imac at present.

Please can I get a response? Thanks in anticipation

Dear colegs. I recently found out that "Spotlight" is not an option for me any more. I am a paying customer at Zoom and have had "Spotligth" up ti´ll maybe four weeks ago. Now I can only "pin" myself when I record. I have followed the instructions u wrote above: "check the box in Recording Settings to record speaker view separately, you can record to the cloud and spotlight yourself, but then click on 'Gallery View'' in your recording options" But as I stated above, the option for Spotlight is gone. Any idea what could be wrong? Kind regards Henry

@Henry_LInn - I assume you are the host of the meeting, and there are 3 or more participants with their video on in the meeting (one of the requirements)?

Yes, I am the host and have more than 3 participants....
Kind regards
Henry

This is really helpful thank you.
But when I go into my Recording Settings, there is no 'Record Speaker View Separately' option. (I have a paid account.)
Is this because Zoom has updated since your answer?
Thank you, Rebecca

@RebeccaP1 - There is actually a top level flag now, "Record active speaker, gallery view and shared screen separately" that if you check it, it will then expand to provide each option individually. I don't know if the top level is new, or I just wasn't seeing it because I had it checked already, but I have verified it will toggle on the option.

Thank you for this. I don't have the top level flag "Record active speaker, gallery view and shared screen separately".
Unless I'm looking in the wrong place - I am in "Settings..." then "Recording".
I have also updated Zoom to version: 6.3.6.
Thank you, Rebecca

@RebeccaP1 - you should see it in Settings -> Recording - Cloud Recording, and it would be 6 settings down in the cloud recording settings section. This option is not available if you are recording locally.

I see, it's when I'm logged in via zoom.us instead of via the Zoom App.
I was wondering how I could record onto my computer, so it only records me as the speaker but I can also look at the students on my computer screen in gallery view. Or is this not possible when recording to my computer - does it only work if I record onto the cloud?
Thank you.

If you are recording locally, it will record exactly what you are seeing. The only possible solution is if you happen to have 2 monitors, then you can select "Dual Monitor Mode" on the client settings as that will split your view, 1 is you/your share and 1 is the gallery.
