Enable screen sharing for meeting created by Google Calendar

When I create a new meeting in Google Calendar and add zoom video conferencing, the meeting always starts with "Host has disabled screen sharing" and I cannot enable screen sharing because I am not the host.

Whenever this comes up, I have to end the meeting, create a new meeting using the zoom app, and then share then invite link with all the meeting attendees so that screen sharing can happen.

Sounds like a couple of possible situations:

  • You are signed in to one account in the scheduler that creates the meeting in GCal, and another in the desktop client you are running the meeting from. I would check the scheduler extension for Chrome or Firefox to ensure you are signed-in to the correct account.
  • You are not signed-in to your Zoom account on the desktop client, thus you are not officially recognized as the host. Ensure you are signed-in to the desktop client with the correct Zoom account.
