Display name on meeting always defaults to other than set name

I have followed every step on the official help page for every device/application including the application, online, and on mobile ( https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/8715431556621-Changing-your-name-on-Zoom#h_01GBDJXA2H4Y1FW... ) but for more than a year now, every single zoom call I host or join my display name is defaulted to my legal name "Timothy" which I must have used to sign up originally for the service several years ago, instead of my entered name of "Tim". 
Is there any way I can fix this? Or is this an issue getting fixed sometime soon? It's getting really annoying having to change my name on every single call I make.
