Hosting Conference

I work for a large university and have an Education type account.  I will be hosting a conference where we have a main room/link and then separate rooms/links for other speakers.  I have created event links and have alternative hosts selected for each room/link.  From what I've read it seems like that means I can be hosting and administrating the main room/link and my alternative hosts can open and run the other meetings at the same time.  Is that correct?  The rooms are all created by me, but I don't actually have to open them or be present to have those meetings occurring?  An alternative host can do everything.

I just want to double check so that when attendees split up into 4 different rooms, they don't get errors that I have to be in each room to make it happen!

Hey @tjmcfall, just trying to understand a bit more of what you're trying to achieve here.

When you're referring to 'Rooms' are you referring to breakout rooms? If so, breakout rooms do not have their individual join links, as the meeting has the invitation link to join the meeting and the breakout rooms are either pre-assign and created when setting up the meeting or assigned in-meeting.

An alternative host has to be associated with the same Zoom account as you, however, you do have an Education type account so I am assuming that you have the ability to assign the alternative host role. You can also leverage the co-host role within meetings as well. You can look more into our KB article on Managing Breakout Rooms.

To your point as well, you do not have to be present within the breakout rooms, as the co-host can switch between sessions at any time. Also, the co-host can choose to split the participants of the meeting into these separate sessions automatically or manually, or they can allow participants to select and enter breakout sessions as they please.

I hope this helps you out!
