Can I set the communication from attendee to attendee to be anonymous in a Zoom Webinar?

Hello,

I am really new to Zoom Webinars.  I apologies if this information should be known.

I see in the FAQ's that Attendees are view-only participants.  Which is really useful.  Can someone help explain a little more detail how this works; in particular from an anonymity perspective?  Are their any additional changes that are available for options like Chat and Q and A so that one Attendee can not see other attendees name, email address and/or log in information?

Can I set the communication from attendee to attendee to be anonymous in a Zoom Meeting, Webinar, or other conferencing solution?

Thanks,

John Asche

Hi John,

Thank you for your question.  Yes, this is a good feature and to answer your question we do have more details I can share with you.  Here is a link that goes more into detail it has a lot of things that you may want to review .

https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/4423305029389-Joining-a-Zoom-meeting-anonymously

Only hosts, co-hosts, and panelists will be able to see the other participants.

Webinar attendees (listeners) cannot see other attendees.

In regards to Q &A, I have provided an overview of what we offer: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/203686015-Using-Q-and-A-as-the-webinar-host

Here you will have the option to set that up prior to those Q & A's

Chats work a bit different : https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/205761999-Chatting-in-a-webinar

  • Attendees can chat with: Control who attendees can chat with.
    • No one: Disables in-webinar chat.
    • Host and panelists: Only the host and panelists can send messages to everyone. Participants can still send private messages to the host and other panelists.
    • Everyone: Attendees can send public messages, which are visible to all attendees. Attendees can still send private messages to the host and other panelists.

You will not be able to set communication to anonymously if users are chatting with each other.  If that option is allowed, they will be able to see who they are chatting with across the board.

Let me know if this answered your question.

Thank you,
