The zoom timer app is not working on my mac. It comes on when I start a meeting, but once my mouse moves off the app, aAll I get is a black screen. I can't change the time duration, I can see anything, and the display on my video does not change. The OS is 10.14.6 (Mojave).

The Zoom timer app may not be working on macOS Mojave (10.14.6) due to compatibility issues. Try these steps:

  1. Update macOS: Upgrade to a newer version if possible, as Mojave is outdated.
  2. Reinstall the App: Uninstall and reinstall the timer app to ensure it's properly configured.
  3. Check Permissions: Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy and ensure the app has permission to screen record or overlay.
  4. Use Alternatives: If the issue persists, consider a browser-based timer or a compatible third-party app.

Updating your macOS is the most reliable fix.

Hi Everyone,

To clarify what happened: Zoom recognized they had a bug that was affecting Mac users, so they fixed it.

The Timer app looks a little different than it did before it went on its vacation from my computer, so perhaps the bug got introduced when they updated the app.

I don't know how the age of one's operating system might or might not come into play. I updated mine as one of the (many) steps I took before Zoom finally fixed the bug, but that step did not work for me.

Before they closed my ticket, I mentioned that one person running 10.14.6 still was having problems even after the bug fix. They said that person needed to reach out directly. (Sorry, RosannavS ... I tried.)

In any case ... good luck and best wishes to everyone!

Thanks for trying, @jennifer25. The ironic thing is that I was the one that started this thread, and created a zoom ticket back in Oct. 2024. I reached out to Zoom multiple times, and their suggestions didn't work for most until it was escalated for the fix for most. @zoomsupport, if you are seeing this, my original ticket# was TS1499439 dated Nov. 9, 2024. [sigh] Feel like I'm going around in circles.

I'm on Monterey and been having the same problems as everyone here but it has JUST started working and, what's more, with a few new features I haven't yet had time to explore (like adding 30 seconds while it's counting). So worth trying again. Took ages (but not as long as for some). Fingers crossed it keeps working and wasn't just a freak event.

It sounds like the Zoom timer app might not be fully compatible with macOS Mojave (10.14.6). Here are a few steps to troubleshoot:

  1. Update the App: Ensure you’re using the latest version of the Zoom timer app. Compatibility issues are often resolved with updates.
  2. Check Permissions: Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy and check if the app has the necessary permissions (e.g., Screen Recording or Accessibility).
  3. Restart Zoom and the Timer App: Close both apps completely and relaunch them.
  4. Test on Another Device: If possible, try the app on a different macOS version to confirm if it’s Mojave-specific.
  5. Contact Support: Reach out to the app’s developer for further assistance, as they might have a workaround or a fix.

Let me know if this helps!

Zoom has already fixed the problem but thanks for the suggestions.  They are always good steps to follow when troubleshooting.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for getting the timer bug fixed. It now works on my desktop Mac running Big Sur. I have not tried it on my laptop yet, but I will.

Thanks to all who kept pushing for this.
