In a Zoom meeting on the desktop app...

1) I was the host

2) There were 3 participants (me + 2)

3) The selection "group chat & anyone directly" was selected'

BUT

4) There was no drop down menu to select a direct message recipient

5) The "more" icon (...) was missing from the bottom menu bar in the chat panel

HOW DO I REINSTATE THE ABILITY TO DO DIRECT CHAT????

We saw this for the first time yesterday.  Something changed as we used to be able to do direct chats for years.

Hello there,

Thank you for your feedback. Our team has shared this with the product team.

Have you heard of Zoom AI Companion?

Thank you.  I am eagerly awaiting this correction.  Still isn't working properly.

I'm having the same issue.  It's critical that my assistant be able to "back channel" with me privately during a meeting.  We use this function quite often.  With it NOT working, it's making communications difficult.  Are there any updates regarding a fix?

Thank you!

Have you tried doing what I've mentioned in my reply below in this topic?
Does it work for you that way?

It's kind of strange. In a meeting, where I'm a host - I cannot choose direct chat recipients.  It can be done however from Participants list > 3 dots menu next to user name > Chat. This should open direct chat to that user.
So this seems to be workaround for you for now...

But when I joined the same meeting as a second user from browser (and third as Zoom Room), they could choose with whom they want to have direct chat from chat window.

I guess this will be fixed with some later releases.

I am still having this problem- it's a loss of functionality from what was there before.  ZOOM- please fix this!!!  It's especially annoying since the host (using my personal meeting room) is the one who can't chat this way- while others seem to have not lost the functionality.
