Windows 11 / low system resources

Since upgrading to Windows 11 (regular end-user track--nothing Insider), I've found a Zoom session (using the Zoom client) often eventually produces a "Low system resources may affect your audio quality. Try closing some applications to improve performance" Windows "overlay" error warning/message (attached). I'm using a decently powerful PC (obviously powerful enough for MSFT to say it's fine for Win11), 32G RAM, TB4 to 5K monitor, gigabit internet, 100mbps wifi, so I don't really think there's anything about my system which should so easily be actually overstressed. If I ignore the warning, my audio will start to stutter. If I close an application, the problem's better for a few minutes, then returns. It only happens "well into" a Zoom (at least a half-hour in). The Zoom session need not be anything special; today's was only five participants. I can't (or don't know how to) know that it's actually Win11-related, or even that it's Zoom-related, but it started immediately after I upgraded from Win10 to Win11, and it only happens when I Zoom (not when I Teams, Meet, jit.si, BlueJeans, Signal, WhatsApp, whatever). It might seem more likely to happen when at least one person's screenshared.

 

It's a bit reminiscent of the "low GDI handles" problem Windows had 15-20 yrs ago. It feels as if the Zoom session is somehow "cumulatively using up" my resources, which makes no sense to me.

 

Yes, I run lots of stuff on my PC--but nothing actually stressful for today's tech.

 

Anyone seen anything similar?

 

Better yet, anyone have any thoughts about how to prevent/mitigate/remediate?

I seen this message tonight on a ZOOM session also using Windows 11.  ""Low system resources may affect your audio quality".   Not seeing this when I used Windows 10 or when I use Linux Manjaro with a KDE desktop.

I am getting same issue. Tried to upgrade my drivers + upgraded my BIOS on Dell Latitude 7400. (core i7, 16GB ram). Windows 10 worked well on same setup. Looking forward for solution.

I am having this issue. It often leads to the blue screen of death in Windows 11 and computer restarts. Any solutions?

My solution for now was to switch off Windows 11 and I went back to using Manjaro Linux.   I'm using the Cinnamon desktop Manjaro Linux,   I do have the Manjaro KDE desktop  installed also on another partition but Cinnamon is a little quicker and easier to navigate between apps I have open.  Anyways for me ZOOM on Linux Manjaro works great, no memory issues, no sound quality issues. I use Window.. I like Windows 11 ....., but I prefer to have smooth computing experience when I use ZOOM along with other apps in the background.   Not a solution for Windows but a solution for not having issues with using Windows.

[Solution] Uninstall 32bit version of Zoom and install latest 64bit version of Zoom. It helped for me. 

where to download the 64 bit?

This may be a 64 bit ZOOM app but I noticed when ever I booted in Windows 11 it immediately wanted to create ZOOM rooms. Kinda annoying so I removed the app.

I am facing same problem and had tried may ways to avoid the problem except downgrade to win10.

Hope Zoom can fix the bug

I am having the same issue. Audio is horrible. Takes a while for meeting to come in clear. Removing HD to see if it revolves problem. I have great internet speed but I get the low resources warning. I thought it was my computer but based on what I am reading here it has to do with Windows 11.

We would highly advise to update your computer's drivers, make sure you are using a 64bit Zoom installer and update it to the latest version.

Have you heard of Zoom AI Companion?

I noticed I get the low system resources messages anytime I open another browser while using Zoom. If I'm using MS Edge for Zoom and then I open Chrome or Firefox the poor audio quality will start. This just start happening recently on the last couple of months. 

I am having the exact same issues. I've tried all of the solutions mentioned in this thread and in others. Nothing works. It's been really difficult for me while on Zoom calls. I cannot use my browser (MS Edge) when on a Zoom call. The audio and video begin to get very choppy. 

 

Zoom team, please look into this and find a fix. There are other posts I found with this same topic, so it's happening to a lot of people.

I have installed 64 bit version. I have powerful computer. Yet when even nothing is running, I am getting low resource error!.

Having same issues, the last 2 episodes have been awful, I've nothing else running in the background, have changed nothing..not sure it's now worth paying for

You guys need to come up with a fix for this. We've already tried everything listed in the troubleshooting guide. This doesn't happen with any of the other video conference apps (Teams, Google Meets, etc.). Only with Zoom.

I have the exact same issue like everyone in here... WIN10Pro-64, uninstalled ZOOM 64 and re-installed Zoom 64 form the official ZOOM webpage. Chrome Browser is updated, all drivers updated, 16GB RAM, 2TB HDD with more than enough space (1.5 TB available), 512GB graphic and a 2.75 GHz CPU Quad 2 with 4 cores.

 

Whenever I am in a call and have to open a new browser window, I get the low "system resources" message and the video and the sound starts to stotter... Horrible and NOT ACCEPTABLE OR FEASIBLE WITH AND FOR CUSTOMERS!

 

I thought it is WIN10 but many in here said that they upgraded to Win11 and it still happens.

 

My CPU gets maxed out (100%) when zoom is on and there is no reason for that. I tried it all, various YouTube videos, various webpages, but it still happens. No virus, no malware, no bloatware, nothing special on the PC, not even a gamer. Happens only with ZOOM, and reading through all the other people since 2020, this happens a lot to a lot of people...

 

WHAT IS THE SOLUTION? And please don't just send me to another link of yours (like you did in one of the other posts), there's nothing more that explains or solves the issue...

 

What is done, please look into this and update ZOOM ASAP!...

Hi! I am having these exact issues on my brand new company computer. have you gotten any resolution?

The only "resolution" is to not have other apps open... However, that is in my line of work not suitable because my presentations demand other programs to be open at the same time as I use ZOOM...

 

What I did is, I checked on my CPU and I was able to transplant a 4core CPU (Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.66 GHz) from an older gaming PC to my PC I am using for work (that had a 2core CPU Intel Pentium E5700 3.0 GHz)...

Although the 4core CPU has less GHz, it is still faster because it has 4cores vs 2cores. And ZOOM has now more "roads to travel on" so to speak, hence less congestions on the road...

 

However, that brought me to the problem that I cannot use virtual backgrounds anymore as those do not work with the transplanted CPU...

 

So either way, ZOOM is putting too many restrictions and is not helping at all... It is less laggy (still is, but less), but it is not perfect by any means, far from it.

 

I also signed up with the PRO version to not have the 40 min restriction and to be able to save videos in the cloud, but that did not change anything regarding the lagging and the "low system resources" issue... I even thought to upgrade to Win11 from my Win10Pro64 machine, but seeing that a lot of peeps with Win11 have the same issue, I rather not... And yes, I run the ZOOM-64 version for my Win10Pro64...

 

So, I do not know what to tell you, other than "good luck with your meetings with your customers"... Thank you ZOOM!

I’m also facing the exact same issue after upgrading to Windows 11. During Zoom sessions, I get a "Low system resources may affect your audio quality" warning, and my audio starts stuttering if I don’t close apps. It only happens during Zoom meetings, not with other apps. Has anyone found a solution to this? I’d really appreciate any help!

My IT team at work tried everything and nothing worked. only solution was getting a new laptop lol. got a lenvo and now its working great
