Virtual Backround doesn't upload on Linux Ubuntu

It's been probably up to one year since I tried to upload my own virtual background for Zoom meetings. It never allows me to do so. It looks like image is uploaded but at the end it doesn't show up in my zoom profile to be picked as preferred option. I tried everything and I'm truly desperate. It seems like such a simple thing and yet it's not working. I found it bit ridiculous. I'm using Zorin OS, which is Linux Ubuntu.

Welcome to the Zoom Community, @mcxmarttin.

I'm not a Linux user, but I did drop your post into ZVA (Zoom's Virtual Assistant), and got this response.  Not really an "answer", but some things in there to review that might help:

I understand how frustrating it can be when virtual backgrounds aren’t working as expected, especially on Linux systems like Zorin OS. Here are some key points and troubleshooting steps for using virtual backgrounds on Zoom with Linux:

  1. Zoom’s virtual background feature on Linux has more limitations compared to Windows and macOS. For example, video backgrounds are not supported, and sometimes image backgrounds may not appear due to compatibility issues.
  2. Make sure you are using the latest version of the Zoom desktop client for Linux. You can download the latest version from the official Zoom website: https://zoom.us/download#client_4meeting
  3. The image you upload should be in JPG, PNG, or BMP format and ideally have a 16:9 aspect ratio with a minimum resolution of 1280x720 pixels.
  4. On Linux, Zoom may require certain hardware acceleration or graphics drivers to support virtual backgrounds. If your device does not meet these requirements, the background may not appear.
  5. After uploading, try restarting the Zoom client to see if the background appears in your selection list.
  6. If you have multiple Zoom profiles or accounts, ensure you are uploading and selecting the background in the correct account.

If you’ve tried all of the above and the issue persists, it may be due to a limitation or bug in the Linux version of Zoom. Unfortunately, Linux support for virtual backgrounds is not as robust as on other operating systems.

Sorry, that's the best I can do for you here, unless someone else pipes up with practical experience.
