Using Zoom for Documentary Film Interviews

Looking for tips and techniques used by filmmakers who have conducted interviews using Zoom. This would be for  a documentary film

“It depends.”  What quality, reliability, and ease of use are you looking for?

 

I’d recommend:

  • Make a Cloud recording, plus a Local recording by the interviewee which you have them upload to you (via Dropbox for example).
  • Turn off “Show participants names”.
  • Have at least 3 people on the call (Zoom often handles 1-on-1 calls differently).
  • Record separate audio files.
  • Make sure you have Standard HD (for Pro) or Full HD (for Business) enabled
