Stop zoom workplace from opening when starting a meeting

I have some clients that use zoom for their meetings.  Any time I click on a link to join one of their meetings, the zoom workplace also opens and I can't close it or else it will force me to leave the meeting.  How do I stop workplace from opening automatically?  I just want to click the link, join the meeting, and then leave.  I don't need or want anything else.  Thanks for any help.

I think it would be good to configure the host settings so participants can join via browser.

When you open the meeting link, a link to join via browser will appear on the displayed screen.

Then you'll be able to join the Zoom meeting from your browser.
