When I connect to Zoom it disables the sound of the other app I'm on. What can I do so I can hear both sounds as I've done in the past with my previous computer?

Since you have not provided any OS details I will assume a windows OS. By default windows allows apps to take exclusive control of the sound card so Zoom will do that. You can disable this. Also, if one app is trying to lock the sound card at 44.1KHz and the other app (Zoom) is trying to lock it at 48Khz this conflict can yield no sound.
