Microphone volume

Hi, my microphone volume is suddenly too low. I have a desktop mac. It's hard for people to hear me. In audio settings the microphone volume is on max. However, when I test my microphone in audio settings my voice volume is much too faint.  The microphone is picking up my voice but the output is so low.

I tested the microphone on my computer itself, it is fine. 

There were no issues like this up until this week.
