Local Recording | only guests video is showing

Hi there community,

after the recent update to 5.9.1 (3509) I am witnessing, that local recordings of my zoom sessions do not record the speaker or switch to the speaker in "speaker mode" in one-to-one sessions. Actually, only the guest is seen, while I - as the host - am talking most of the time.

Is this a bug, am I doing something different or did some local recording features change so drastically?

Thanks a bunch,

Raphael

I believe by default local recording by default would always just record the Speaker View and share screen. but this article from Zoom dated dec 2021 talks about changing recording layouts.

Thanks Dan,

although this doesn’t resolve the issue I now chose to pin my videofeed. Which prohibits to see others in the recording - but it’s better than to see noone.

Still hungry for a solution and somehow thinking about this as a bug in the new update.

I'm having the same problem. When I record in speaker view, only the participant's video is recorded - not mine as the host. I've tried fiddling with all the settings and can't figure it out. This has only been happening for the last few weeks. Any help or suggestions very welcome!

Thanks,

Phoebe

Hi Phoebe,

I came across a workaround through pinning my window. Although, the picture now won’t show the other participants- which is kind of unsatisfactory.

Any hints from other pro zoomers out there?

I'm having the very same issue suddenly, and will be running my conferences in Gallery View until there's a solution. Kind of a bummer.

Has this been resolved yet? Is anyone from Zoom addressing this issue?

Hi there,

not yet unfortunately. Still the same old issue. This might be a tactical decision, as to force cloud recording and enforce cloud subscriptions.

idk though 😉

if you can choose to cloud record there are many more record option like the ability to separately record speaker view gallery view and screen share as individual recordings. I also know many that use a product from Liminal called Zoom ISO that will isolate every participants video in meetings or panelists in webinar. there is an additional price for that service though. info at https://www.liminalet.com/zoomiso

There is also a community of professional Zoom users that work in Virtual event productions, Audio / visual professionals, musicians, educators. they meet everyday on zoom and answer questions. https://officehours.global
