I am unable to "double click" to convert recordings as I have done in the past when not done automatically. Any tricks to get the file to convert to MP4 from Zoom recording?

Hey @Debbiepotts, for versions 4.6.10 or higher, you can't convert local recording files by double-clicking the Zoom files. You must follow the steps below to manually convert the files:
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
- Click the Meetings tab.
- Click the Recorded tab.
- Select the meeting topic with the local recording.
- Click Convert.
Hope this helps!

What you have provided does not work. Is there a new solution or steps?

There are a couple of solutions we have in our Zoom wiki:
To manually convert a .zoom file, right-click the file, open with "C:\Program Files (x86)\Zoom\bin\zTscoder.exe"
If the above steps do not work, try these;
- Sign into the Zoom desktop client. (This can be done on ANYONE'S Zoom client.)
- Start new meeting, and record locally. End recording and the meeting as well.
- Remove all the contents of the newly created recording folder (leave it empty).
- Copy just the "double click to convert" files of your failed conversion to newly created recording folder.
- Open Desktop Client -> Meetings -> Recorded.
- Click Convert.
I'm trying these with a user after not having done it in a while--I'll report back if I have to make changes to the procedure.

This worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip. It does seem weird that there isn't a way in zoom to do this directly (older meetings don't show up in the meetings button).

Jan 2025 Update - I had issues following a lot of people advice here. So May I add,
After you stop recording the new video and a new folder is created, Make sure to leave the 2 files 'double_click_to_convert_01' and 'Double_Click_To_convert_02' Within the folder (You CAN delete everything else in the folder).
Then when you copy and paste in the unconverted zoom file that you want to convert 'double_click_to_convert_01' and 'Double_Click_To_convert_02' into that new folder, you may be prompted with a message to overwrite the current files, make sure to click YES.
Close down zoom, the open it up again, go to home>open recording>local recordings, then there should be a a box like icon on the left side of the file in recording, click that, then you should get a message asking you if you want to convert. Click yes, then hopefully it should start converting!

This is a terrible solution. While it may work, the possibility of losing everything, etc, is very high. ZOOM needs to remedy the problem...just make it go back to what it was before. No problem converting then!

See my note above--sometimes you have to trick the Zoom app into seeing the meeting files. It's also possible to right click the files and tell Windows to open them with the conversion utility, but I've forgotten the program name.

Complaint.
I recorded an important meeting on my PC, and had to shut down before the conversion was complete.
Zoom provided me with a dialogue box that said I can convert later. That gave me assurance that I could close down rather than keep my internet link with my iPhone.
Now it seems that advice from Zoom was not true. There is no "Recorded" tab under the Meeting tab, contrary to Zoom's assertions.
Zoom has deceived me that I can retain my access to an important recording. I am angry about this.

Fixed. I am able to double click the file to convert it. I can't understand why Zoom Help does not explain this properly and instead told me to look at a Recording tab that does not exist.

Convert Zoom File to MP4 after a Technical Issue
- This approach works with all OSes (Linux, Mac, Windows)
- Start a new meeting and recording, play for 5 seconds and stop, DO NOT END THE MEETING
- Copy the 2 previous unconverted files to new recording directory, replacing the 2 new unconverted files (the 5 second recording)
- End the meeting
- ZOOM will give you a warning as ZOOM is confused about the new files in the new recording. Ignore and accept the conversion
