Change color of black side bars in a meeting

Changing the color of the side bars to white might eliminate the need for a ring light when in a meeting. The brightness of the side bars on the screen could serve as a built-in light.

Hi gbillings,

Thank you for joining the Zoom Community! We really appreciate for sharing this thoughtful suggestion! And this is an interesting idea — using lighter interface colors to help brighten the user’s face during meetings could indeed reduce the need for external lighting in some setups.

Currently, Zoom’s side panels and interface colors are designed primarily for readability and accessibility rather than as a light source. However, your feedback about using screen brightness as a built‑in lighting aid is valuable and could inspire future design considerations.

I recommend submitting this idea through Zoom’s Feedback form (available at zoom.us/feed) so it reaches our product design team directly. They regularly review user suggestions when planning interface updates and accessibility improvements.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your insight!
