Auto close browser tab upon meeting launch

There used to be an option to automatically close the browser tab  that is automatically launched when joining a Zoom meeting after a few seconds. Now, the tab just stays open indefinitely and you have to close it manually, which is extremely annoying when spending a full day in back to back meetings. I haven't been able to find any settings to turn the auto-close back on - is this still an option?

Hello @CJD

There is a task with the product team to allow this to auto-close. The product team is reviewing the request as we speak and will determine if this is something that they plan to implement into the product moving forward.

Brandon

Have you heard of Zoom AI Companion?

It is extremely frustrating to have multiple browser windows that dont auto close. I have to hunt multiple windows and close them every few hours after multiple meetings. Pls fix this ASAP.

Its been about 4 months since zoom said it was working on this feature. Any update?

Hi @YaBoiB , in the mean time, does Zoom have any suggestions?

Seems like this was completely dropped?

Third parties have taken on this problem and done good work on it. I installed a chrome extension and am pleased with the result: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/zoom-closer/appjbedfhcmpknanmbndpojcllfaemal?hl=en

This used to be a good option but looks like it was removed. I wonder why.

Hello @digitalfiz

I do not think that this is going to change back. I personally use the chrome extension that @Gabeyd mentioned above. If I hear anything about this changing I will surely let you all know.

Thanks,

Brandon

I was also looking for a solution and came across Chrome Zoom Tab Remover extension

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/zoom-tab-remover/aipgpbkgomhfcdkibhkooenbgimpiigf

It works quite well.

No longer available.

Another upvote for a Zoom-native solution, please.

Hello, following up on this, has this feature been implemented and if not, what is the plan?

Hello @aklein

No, I have not seen or heard anything new about whether we are going to change this in a future release.

You keep reporting you haven't heard anything, but don't say if you are actively communicating this request or pushing for it.  Then keep mentioning to click on the accepted solution.  Does it mean this forum is just a waste of time?  Is Zoom that big that a request to implement a timer to autoclose can't be done after almost one year?  Just examine how the browser extensions are doing it!

Insanely frustrating to see that such a simple feature takes ages to get revived. It's either that this is not a real customer community or that Zoom don't care about Cx. Either is really annoying...

I would drop Zoom in less than a second if another remotely working solution existed. Hear that entrepreneurs?

I found this:
https://www.around.co/
and it beats Zoom in lots of ways, including backgrounds/clipping/video quality etc. Zoom is asleep at the wheel and has been since the pandemic.

I've just confirmed that the following third-party Chrome extension is available and works very well.

Some groups don't have access to the Chrome web store per their organizations ... which also means a vote for a  zoom solution.

In the meantime, here's a firefox extension. no idea if it works. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/zoom-tab-close/
