Where is the Recording & Transcript tab??

I'm trying to record a 5-7 minute presentation for my final, and I can't seem to find a tab that allows me enable computer recording. The article I found says I need to go to Account Management and then "Account Settings" to enable it. But I can't find "Account Settings."

The only thing I see under Account Management is "Account Profile" and "Reports." No Account Settings. In "Account Profile" I only see my account type, my role, and my meeting capacity. "Reports" is also a dead-end.

I just want to record a 5-minute presentation on my computer. Please tell me if this is a bug or not and how to fix it. I can't use Clips because it only allows for 2-minute recordings. Please help!

It sounds like you might not have the right permissions or access to enable local recording from your account. Here's how you can resolve this issue:

Step 1: Check Your Role

Since you're seeing only limited options under Account Management, it suggests you're not an account admin. Recording settings (like enabling local recording) are typically controlled by the account admin.

  1. Go to Profile in your Zoom web portal to confirm your role.
    • If you're listed as a "Member," you'll need to contact your account admin to enable local recording for your user profile.

Step 2: Enable Local Recording

If you have admin access or can get assistance from your account admin:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Navigate to Account Management > Account Settings.
  3. Under the Recording tab, toggle on Local Recording.
    • Ensure the setting is unlocked so it applies to all users.

Step 3: Alternative Solution for Recording

If you don’t have access to enable local recording, use the Zoom desktop app to record directly if this option is already enabled:

  1. Start a meeting from the desktop app.
  2. Click Record > Record on this Computer.
    • If this option is missing, it confirms local recording isn't enabled for your account.

Workaround for Your Presentation

If enabling local recording isn’t possible, consider these alternatives:

  1. Use a Free Zoom Account:
    • Sign up for a free Zoom account, which allows local recording by default.
    • Log out of your paid account and log in with the free account to record your presentation.
  2. Use a Screen Recorder:
    • Use third-party screen recording software like OBS Studio, Camtasia, or the built-in screen recorder on your device (e.g., Xbox Game Bar on Windows, QuickTime Player on Mac).
