change password has an sad shortcoming

With all the sites we have that bark out passwords must be  uppercase this, numeric that and special chars this....

i just spent the last 3 hours trying to make a new account only to discover that they only want alphabet and numbers only. I was adding in one non-alpha/numeric char as most security sites recommend it.

However the change password system will ACCEPT non-alpha/numeric chars and from there on it won't let you in.

Considering we can put a spaceship on mars, can't zoom restrict KEYSTROKES on user input to allow only characters they want?
