download Zoom Meeting NOT Zoom Workplace

Our organization has been using Zoom for several year, but now it's getting more and more difficult to use. The people who want to join a meeting have had difficultly with their existing Zoom app. Sometimes, they are given a message that Zoom must update before they can join the meeting. After the update, they are asked for a lot of information that was never requested previously. It appears the Zoom update gives them a Zoom Workplace account. When you search for a link to download the basic Zoom meeting app, the Knowledge Base says to go to the iOS App Store and search for Zoom - One Platform to Connect. There is no such app in the iOS App Store.  😠 Other links on the Zoom web site to download the Zoom app take you to downloads for Zoom Workplace. Our people don't want to join the Zoom Workplace. We just want to have basic meetings. Our organization has the Zoom One Pro plan, but most of our members have been using the free Zoom meeting app.

Please help us navigate through the Zoom waters to continue using Zoom for meetings, NOT Zoom Workplace. Where do you download the Zoom meeting app for Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android? Don't send me to the Knowledge Base. Those links are all for Zoom Workplace. I've tried them; I know!

"Zoom Workplace" is simply a new name for the "Zoom App" which is now version 6+. It is NOT a new account or a new product - it is just a new name for the same product you have been using with a lot of new and very useful functions, which you don't have to use. For all my participants, joining a meeting has gotten simpler. Meetings can be joined with a single click. From an IOS device links can be stored in notes. When clicked they go directly to the app and join the meeting - it does not require going thru a browser or finding a buried email. Just requires a little training.

In the IOS app store you can get "Zoom Workplace" for an iPhone, iPad, or Apple 4K TV (uses iphone for mic and camera if needed).

I disagree with your comments.  Like the person asking the initial question, I also find the Zoom Workplace difficult to use.

OMG it is Horrible!  Please allow all of us to have Zoom without Zoom Workplace. I am receiving constant alerts on my desktop for appointments on my Outlook calendar that Zoom Workplace is not remotely involved with.  I do not want them linked unless perhaps it is an actual ZOOM meeting.  Please help all of us stop these interruptions!

Actually it isn't.  The notifications every few minutes are driving so many so crazy.  I hear about this every single day from someone who works with Zoom.  Please allow us an option to stop this annoyance!!!!

I have been asking the same question.  One of my computers has the "old" Zoom (Zoom Meetings) and one of my computers has the "new" Zoom (Zoom Workplace).  Both clients and we have had trouble with Zoom Workplace.  Also, in the old Zoom there is an AI feature called Meeting Summary which is FABULOUS. In the new Zoom this feature is gone and only option is AI Summary which I do not like.  Sure hope someone knows a way to go back to the "old" Zoom.  Also so hard to use 2 different interfaces depending on which computer I am using.  May be time to leave Zoom - it used to be so good.

This  WORKPLACE version is beyond "uncomfortable".  It has REMOVED the most useful features for me - the UPCOMING and RECORDED meetings on the MEETINGS tab.  I can't see all my upcoming meetings AT A GLANCE for the next 4 weeks, only by selected a date in the side panel to see one at a time which is NOT working for me. I can't see my RECORED meetings (I record them locally on my PC).

Unless this is a bug - as these tabs are still shown in your support article - this is the worst idea for "improvement" I have ever seen - you have made it unusable!

I'm sending a ticket to your support now requesting the solution to bring back the SCHEDULED and RECORDED tabs under MEETINGS which I DO NEED.

I am NOT a large company, I do NOT run team meetings. I do NOT need or want a WORKPLACE.

Whoever in your dev team came up with this "improvement" should be sacked.

Are you kidding? The desktop app for this is so big it crashes every time I try to load it. Please make the simpler version available again. You are tanking important meetings I have Thurs and Fri !!!

Zoom Workplace make something on GPU and load it up to 100%. Have you integrated some mining to Zoom Workplace?
Not possible to use it at all.

Also application looks extremely bad and have strange interface and unwanted "features".

I have the only one question - where to download NORMAL Zoom?

YES please help all of us with this.  Have you not heard every comment loud and clear. Do we have no other option but to leave? Please give us the opportunity at lease to go back to what everyone liked and we were all perfectly happy to have.

Ever since I upgraded to Zoom Workplace, it does not remember my profile name in meetings. Each new meeting, it reassigns "zoom user" to me. It's a pain. And on the Zoom portal it knows my profile name. I want to go back to the older version of zoom which was much better.

If you really are a Zoom employee, please copy this thread, and the many other threads on problems with Zoom Workplace to upper management and try to get them to revert to an earlier version of Zoom that was simple to use and WORKED (or at least offer it as an option).

It is as if Zoom is trying to compete with Microsoft 365 to make products that are so complicated they are essentially unusable to everyone except those who have a full time job that will pay them to learn the application.  I am a volunteer.  I can't spend weeks trying to understand how to get Zoom to work for our organization.

I am the tech person for a small nonprofit organization that started using Zoom when COVID made in person meetings impractical.  Zoom worked great.  We got a Meeting Owl and Zoom worked well with that.  Then a couple of months ago I could not get Zoom to see the Meeting Owl (not for audio or video).  I tried purchasing a new USB cable thinking that may have been the problem, but still could not connect.  

I tried uninstalling Zoom Workplace and installing an older version of Zoom (the last version before 6/the start of Workplace).  I still could not get the Meeting Owl to work with Zoom.

I uninstalled that and downloaded and installed the current version of Zoom.  That version can see the Meeting Owl and looks like it may work, but it keeps wanting me to sign in.

I am crossing my fingers I can get Zoom and the Meeting Owl working together for the next meeting, and get myself signed in as host, and stay signed in.  

Like I said, I hope we can get the option to use a simpler version of Zoom that works without problems.

Today, I opened the regular zoom on my laptop to join a meeting.  I was forced to update. I joined the meeting and suddenly the display changed, and I could not interact with anyone in the meeting. The video icon disappeared, the audio icon as well, and also chat and reactions were gone. I had no way to participate when called upon to speak. Apparently the host and other participants could still see my icon as active and were baffled as to why I wasn't participating. So frustrating!!!!

I miss the day when Zoom was hands down the best video conferencing application ever created. Ever since it went to Zoom Workplace we have had nothing but problems. Sounds like someone from Marketing got involved and renamed the app to sound like it was more than just video meetings and now here we are.

Has anyone found a real answer to this question? Is there a way to download Zoom Meetings and not Zoom Workplace? If we want a personal Zoom account attached to our personal gmail and not a company, is this possible? Or are we now all just SOL?

Sadly, despite reassurances from Zoom and its sock puppets promoters, Workplace remains and invasive, cumbersome bundle of bloatware tacked on to a very competent video conferencing tool.

MSGR's comment above seems to toe the corporate line: our customers are just resistant to change and need to settle in and see what a great thing we made... They don't appreciate all the awesome new features they didn't need and didn't ask for...

Sorry, Zoom, you're wrong and dismissing customer complaints is bad business. Tell your dev team to whip up a lite version without the productivity bloatware, see what happens (I expect the vast majority of your customers will prefer a more svelte application). Read the room a little, and play to your strengths.

Also, your Linux client went from "acceptable and much appreciated effort" to absolute trash with the transition to Workplace.

After a few months of exploring and experiencing myself, I can say that the Zoom Workplace is very inefficient to use because it eats many resources. Especially for those of us who use Zoom for broadcast and hybrid meeting needs. Zoom workplace is the same weight as VMix, even worse. Please return the old zoom, or create 2 app.  Zoom Meeting + Zoom Workplace

I totally agree with you on the calendar issue especially.  I am so very tired of having pop ups from Zoom about my schedule that I already know from Outlook. It is so ridiculous to have this version when SO MANY absolutely hate it!  Please listen to us Zoom or it seems as if all are gone!
