The host requires authentication on the commercial Zoom platform to join this meeting

I've set my meetings up to not require a passcode or waiting room, but to require authentication. One of the meeting participants keeps getting the following message and is unable to join. Please advise how to resolve this issue:
"Unable to join this meeting. The host requires authentication on the commercial Zoom platform to join this meeting. Please log in with a commercial Zoom account to Join."

I see others have this issue but I don't see that there has been a resolution posted.

Note that the participant unable to join does not have a commercial Zoom account which is also true for most of the other participants who are able to join the meeting.

Hi @WW23 @TaraStaff , thank you for posting your issue in the Zoom Community!

If you Require authentication to join: Sign in to Zoom is enabled. Once enabled, all participants are required to have at least a free/basic Zoom account and be signed in when joining the meetings. You may disable the authentication requirement by editing the meeting.

Read more about requiring authentication to join a meeting/webinar, here: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/4406604615693-Requiring-authentication-to-join-a-meeting-w...

I believe I've found the fix but the instructions on zoom are outdated and unclear. Users experiencing this issue likely have the security setting set in their profile to "requires authentication" (check Personal Room tab within Meetings). To change this, you have to schedule a new meeting and manually uncheck the "requires authentication" security and select a different security method (I used waiting room). THEN, future meetings will default to this security nethod (double check Personal Room tab again after making this change). I just tested it with a friend and it worked.

this works!

Yes this worked. I don't usually schedule meeting I just go live but doing that today had the authentication setting locked in the on position. No one could enter and I could not turn it off.  I scheduled a meeting in 15 minutes and was able to deselect authenticate and it freed up what was stuck.  The edit button is no longer grayed out and authenticate is off. Thanks.

Hi @CarlaA  - This is not the problem.  The problem is that authentication is NOT enabled and NOT required, but participants are receiving an error saying that it is.   My meetings DO NOT have authentication required - but meeting participants keep getting an error message saying that it IS.

How can we find an answer.  My message says I have to have a commercial account.  I can't get in and this meeting is important to me.

Make sure you are signed into your Zoom account. Zoom wants to validate your credentials. Open the application and sign in. Then try to get in your meetings.

I am encountering this problem for a subset of those participating in our meetings. In particular, it seems like those with government-related zoom accounts cannot use them for authentication. We need authentication for these meetings, but at the same time this is an important set of participants and we want them to be able to attend!

Has anyone encountered this? Know the reason for it? Know a work-around for it?
