Segfault on Linux

Recently I noticed that Zoom is experiencing some segfaults shortly after it starts, then a few other times during a meeting. It also happened a couple of times during a meeting and after a segfault, my mouse would get very slow, the whole UI would be super slow, after about 30s or so without touching the mouse the computer looked normal again. During this period the audio for me and my video to other participants was not affected, I could talk and hear everybody, nobody mentioned my video freezing. However, once I touched the mouse again, the slowness would start again, once the computer was "normal" I could use the keyboard without any issues, I could open other applications, move windows, etc.

The only real fix is to force reboot my laptop.

Similar here except the webcam stops working and the driver /dev/video0 is not accessible anymore (qv4l2 does not detect a device dev/video0 anymore. Sometimes it recovers, sometimes I need to reboot.

Same issue on brand new Rocky Linux 9.5 installation. Have tried using Zoom 6.3.11, 6.3.6 and 6.3.0. Only happens with Zoom. All other audio, (Google Meet, MS Teams and YT Music) is working as expected.

Same issue here on Debian. Very frustrating - generally sound dies within about 5 minutes of jioning a call. Quit & rejoin resets it, but then it fails again 😞

One difference I noticed is that now I usually get the option to send a crash report right after opening Zoom, usually through a meeting link.

See if editing ~/.config/zoomus.conf and setting:

disableCef=true

fixes it. Note that the option is likely already present in the config file under the [General] section but set to false.

fixes it. It helped with an issue with a blank scheduling window and I suspect it will help here since the backtraces reference libcef.

Same here for Zoom version 6.4.10 on an up to date Arch linux box.

My journalctl output is spammed by :

kernel: ZoomWebviewHost[10211]: segfault at 19 ip 00007f069ed9bdb4 sp 00007f0688bf7930 er│
ror 6 in libcef.so[8d9adb4,7f06984b7000+b156000] likely on CPU x (core x, socket 0)

This coincides with my usb-mouse becoming so slow that one click may take up to 2 minutes to produce the expected effect in certain windows (not in all windows). Restarting the applications that open the affected windows seems to solve the mouse problem for a few seconds before the same happens again.

Meanwhile spamming of the journalctl output stopped, after having appended "disableCef=true" to ~/.config/zoomus.conf in the [General] section.
