When the account was started, I generated a code and created a customized passcode, and have been using that since to have meetings.  I later realized I should have used my PMID in order to have the same meeting.  Can I arrange to change my generated code to the PMID since it's been used for so long without changing and confusing others?  I want to create a poll in advance of the meeting and need to schedule it in order to do that.

Welcome to the Zoom Community, @EMayfield.

Personally I don't recommend using the PMI for scheduled meetings... but it can be done.

Note when creating the meeting there is this section:

The default is to generate a distinct Meeting ID, but you can select the PMID as well.

I recommend careful reading of this Zoom Support article, especially the references to polling in a room using the PMI:
