Large meeting 1000

I have a large meeting for almost 1000 people later today.
In these meetings people arrive late, or leave during the meeting. This shows in the participant panel on the right side of the screen.  As a host, is there a way only I can see the participants? This is a meditation event and all the activity of people coming and going is disturbing for the group.
Any suggestions please?

Welcome to the Zoom Community, @dijane.

People who don't want to see the participant list can "unshow" it... they don't have to be looking at it if they're distracted by it.

But there is no way for the host to prevent it from appearing for attendees in a Zoom Meeting.

You could get a Webinar license.  None of the attendees can see the other attendees leaving and arriving.  If there is a limited number of people talking most of the time, they can be admitted to the Webinar as Panelists... the attendees can see the Panelists and Hosts names, but not the other attendees.
