Invitee is told to wait for the host to start the meeting even though the meeting has been started

To  I started my personal meeting touched the invitee button then selected gmail to send to an invitee.

However, when the invitee selected the meeting link he is told to wait for the host to start the meeting.

We exchanged places and he started a meeting and invited man when I touched the link I got the same response.

This is the first time this has happened. We both have the basic zoom.

You have to leave and re-join the same meeting

This basically happens when the host starts the meeting and at the same time, the invitee joins in.
