@annemarie The below article will help show you the steps for adding an alternative host. 

You will only be able to designate an alternative host if the user is 1) on the same account as yourself and 2) is also licensed. 
If the above conditions are not met, then you would need to start the meeting and then assign a host at the beginning to the needed user before leaving the meeting.
