Feedback Distortion

I have a question.  Does Zoom automatically mute the speaker if the mic is picking up a significant input, like someone speaking?   I've been trying to use Facetime with an exterior microphone, and like what can occur with a PA system, I've been getting feedback amplification where one hears a loud, high pitched sound.

I know that Zoom can eliminate background noise; can it address this problem as well?

Hello NKPoulsen,

Thank you for your inquiry.

Zoom does not automatically mute a participants microphone. You can utilize a suppression filter for background noise in the Zoom desktop client for noises such as fans, paper crunching etc. However, the type of sound you are referring to sounds like audio echo which you can try resolving with the below article.
