Android app requires giving Zoom blanket permission to record meetings

A user I regularly interact with on zoom would like to use their phone for our meetings. They hesitated when they downloaded the app for Android and were being required to give permission for zoom to record meetings before they could move forward. Has anyone else encountered this and is there a workaround? Thank-you.
