Speaker & Gallery buttons are off, Slides shared aren't recorded?

After 30 minutes of struggle, practice, cancel to check recording, and restart, I had to cancel the first meeting of my course. Speaker and Gallery buttons seem backwards, after lots of effort. And the slides appeared on the screen but not the record...
