I am doing a test zoom meeting on my free account. Audio fine. Mic tested fine. Why can't I hear myself speaking through the mic as I am reading while recording the meeting?

When I attempt to chat during a zoom event, my name does not appear, but instead it says "Me to everyone." Also, I noticed only the first initial of my name appears, while everyone else who comments shows both initials in addition to their full name....
