As host, do I need to stay connected to a call for the other parties to continue talking?

You can pass the host role to another participant so the meeting can continue once you leave. You can find more details in this article: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362573-Passing-host-controls-to-leave-the-meeting
