On April 16, between 2:25 P.M. ET and 4:12 P.M. ET, the domain zoom.us was not available due to a server block by GoDaddy Registry. This block was the result of a communication error between Zoom’s domain registrar, Markmonitor, and GoDaddy Registry, which resulted in GoDaddy Registry mistakenly shutting down zoom.us domain. Zoom, Markmonitor, and GoDaddy worked quickly to identify and remove the block, which restored service to the domain zoom.us. There was no product, security or network failure at Zoom during the outage. GoDaddy and Markmonitor are working together to prevent this from happening again.

can't use powerpoint remote when in zoom

We are using a BlackWeb presentation remote, which works with powerpoint apps and desktop versions when zoom is not open. But whenever we start or join a meeting, it no longer works. The only button which does work is the escape button. We've tried wiping zoom off the computer and reinstalling the newest version, but that hasn't worked for us.

The problem often happens because Zoom becomes the active window, and presentation remotes typically only control the app that's currently in focus. To fix this, make sure PowerPoint is the active window before using the remote. Another solution is to share your entire screen in Zoom rather than just the PowerPoint window.

This allows PowerPoint to stay in focus and can help the remote work properly. You can also try running your presentation in windowed mode by going to the “Slide Show” tab in PowerPoint, clicking “Set Up Slide Show,” and choosing “Browsed by an individual (window).” This keeps PowerPoint on top and responsive to your remote during a Zoom call.

Thank you for the reply! Unfortunately, we've tried this solution but it hasn't worked for us. I'm starting to suspect that perhaps this particular brand of presentation remote may not be compatible with zoom? We have zoom updated to the latest version but that hasn't made us any progress either.
