I am an online cooking teacher and I usually use my laptop for the main view for students and have my phone on a tripod for the closeup view. I then spotlight both views so my students see only these and not the gallery view when I'm teaching. It works well. I am doing a Ukraine fundraiser next week and have 50 people attending! I want to use a monitor so I can have the spolights for the students as usual but on the 2nd monitor I want to have the gallery view so I can see them all. I don't want to just change the view for myself on the laptop because I also want to record the class and would like the two spotlights recorded, not the gallery view.
Is this possible? And if yes, how do I set everything up?
Thanks!

Hi Sue,
First thank you for what you're doing for Ukraine! There is a setting in the Zoom client that allows you to use dual monitors. The participants will appear one monitor and the share on the other.

There are multiple streams that are recorded so that you can use them however works best for you.

I hope that helps. Good luck with your fundraiser!

HI! Yes, I know about the settings and how to do it, but the tricky part for me is setting up one monitor with the spotlights and the other in gallery view AND recording so the recording shows the two spotlights. Is this possible? I'm not really sharing a screen with a presentation, I just want to use the 2nd monitor as gallery view for me. But the recording is important to have the spotlights so I can send the class to people after so they can watch. Thanks for the quick reply!
And It's my honor and pleasure to do this fundraiser. #cookforukraine 🙂

Is this what you mean?
You may want to have somebody else connect and do a recording of the Gallery view. I don't think you can do both at the same time on the same computer.

Thanks. I want to spotlight on on monitor ( my laptop) but have gallery view on the other. Yes, I need to test with a few people ( I think you need 3 to start spotlighting) so I'll test it all out. Just thought I would start with this chat room to see if people had suggestions. Trial and error is a good thing too! Thanks again!

This would be a super useful feature. I host a hybrid meeting with several people in the room. I'm using the laptop in front of me to control the meeting but want to show the remote participants to the room on a second monitor. The only way to do that is with a second laptop connected to that monitor and running the meeting. (A phone or chromebook would be handier but can't show enough participants.) I wish Zoom would let you specify what's on the second screen instead of limiting it to screen shares.

Hi,
You can do this with Zoom Rooms. It can run on any Windows computer and we have a free trial here: https://zoom.us/pricing/zoom-rooms
This support article talks about how to use multiple displays: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/209181346
I hope that helps! Please mark the reply Accept As Solution if it does.
