Spotify sounds very strange when I start a Zoommeeting

Hi everyone, this is my first post here. My name is Sarah and I am from the Netherlands.

Since I have a new laptop, there's something strange going on. When I am listening to Spotify on my laptop, it sounds great. But the minute I open a Zoom-meeting, even before sharing sound, the music sounds very troubled. Like it's under water or something. The minute I end the Zoom-meeting, it sounds normal. So there must be a link between zoom and spotify - that wasn't there before. Can somebody help me with this problem? Thank you so much!

First of all, rebroadcasting Spotify music is in violation of the terms of use which says "...You agree not to redistribute or transfer the Spotify Service or the Content." Therefore, no help can be provided to violate the law. However, if you had royalty free music to play then you might want to consider turning on "original audio for musicians".

Ever since I got a new laptop, I've noticed something strange. When I listen to Spotify, the sound quality is great. However, as soon as I join a Zoom meeting—even without sharing audio—the music quality drops significantly, almost like it's muffled or underwater. Once I leave the Zoom meeting, the sound returns to normal. There seems to be some kind of connection between Zoom and Spotify that wasn't an issue before. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you in advance!

Hi Sarah!

It sounds like Zoom might be taking over your laptop’s audio settings, which can sometimes lower the quality of other audio sources like Spotify. You could try adjusting the audio settings in Zoom by turning off 'Enable Original Sound,' which might help reduce interference. Also, make sure your audio drivers are up to date and check if there are any enhancements enabled in the sound settings that might be causing this issue. Hope this helps!
