I’m hosting Zoom sessions on my 8th generation iPad (software version 15.2.1, if that applies). I can’t find a way to set up breakout rooms. Can I do this? If so, how?

Hello @WillieMays,
Please review this support article regarding Breakout Rooms.
https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206476313
You will see by the prerequisites that you cannot initiate breakouts as the host from an iPad. You need to host the meeting using our desktop client.

What does "You need to host the meeting using our desktop client." mean and can you do that from an ipad?
Best,
Martha

It means that you cannot do it from an ipad. You have to use a desktop or laptop computer to iniate Breakout rooms.

Do we know if this has been rectified? It’s 2024, iPads are used worldwide by students and educators. Has Zoom been updated to allow for breakout rooms to be created on an iPad?

I totally agree with you. 2024 iPads have more horsepower than many laptops and networking that is just as capable. So, to deny iPad users the same capabilities as desktop users is unfair and unnecessary.
