Microphone turns off during screen share

Hi - whenever I screen share (joining Zoom from my Chrome browser) the microphone access is not activated when I screen share. This seems to be a relatively new issue.  I've also had the same issue when I've tried to use Chrome from the web store (see image below). I haven't tried joining via the Zoom for Chrome PWA.

I use Zoom quite frequently for presentations as not everyone has Microsoft Teams or uses Google Meet. This is turning into a professional disaster - would appreciate any assistance. Was not an issue when I paid for Zoom premium!

Hi @Sheryl_Sea! I know it has been a while since you initially posted, but I want to make sure you receive assistance. Are you still having this issue? If so, I'd love to help you get it resolved.

I don't know if Sheryl_Sea is still having this issue, but I had it for the first time today and I use zoom often.  I had a hard time connecting which was also an issue.  I finally got my audio connected but was getting an error when I tried to turn on video.  It kept saying another app was using video but I didn't have any apps open.  Then when I tried to screen share, it turned off the mic.  How do I keep this from happening again?

I started having this problem just recently. It really hinders my ability to do my job. I have not seen any adequate responses anywhere online.

I have been professionally using Zoom for nearly a decade. This summer, after an update, about 80% of the time I would go to share my screen, the microphone would stop working. Zoom is not muting it. It simply stops functioning, and will sometimes freeze the green sound level indicator in the mic animation. I will die on the hill that there is nothing wrong with the physical connections of my microphone, and while I do use an external microphone, using the built-in microphone on the laptop has the same behavior. This is not a microphone problem -- it is a Zoom problem.

The ONLY workaround for the issue is to toggle the microphone selection to one you don't want to use and then back to the microphone you do want to use. This only happens on my laptop, where I spend the bulk of my time on Zoom. It adds awkward seconds that could otherwise be smooth transitions from not sharing to sharing the screen.

I habitually, and am forced to by company policy, to stay on the most recent version of of the Zoom app. This has not changed anything since the summer. I believe it to be getting worse. Rebooting does not fix the problem. Turning off everything else that could possibly use a microphone, except Zoom, decreases the possibility of the problem happening, but does not eliminate the problem from happening.
