Error message - invalid email address when trying to register

We use the registration element for our meeetings and some users are unable to register as they receive an error saying their email address is invalid.  It is from a university, so does not take the standard format .  Their email address looks like this  ***********.  Any advice?

I'm responding as "I have the same/similar problem" so I can follow the responses to the original poster.

we have a similar problem with one person (with her personal gmail account, and also has a Zoom account for work, but I have no information on that account). She gets invalid email address when trying to join our Zoom meetings. (we're  an all volunteer organization.)

I am having that same problem right now.  Zoom registration is failing for multiple people trying to register.  I tried manually registering that person and received the same error message.  I also got captcha'ed almost to death.
