Open registration after event date for webinars

I've recently had difficulty registering users for previous webinars, before we had the option to "Close registration after the event date" and unchecking that option to allow registration. but I see that it is now deprecated. What is the alternative to be able to register users after the event date?

have you tried "Make the webinar on-demand"
