Second Line VVX 150

kdalton
Listener

I have purchased a couple of VVX 150 phones. It was my intention that each of these "two line" phones would have a button/ line for the users direct line and one for our main # so that user could either answer the main number if it rings at their line, or pick that line up & use it to dial out.

However,  there doesn't seem to be a way to assign our 2nd phone number, which we have purchased (a number, not a user) to those phones? Help!

hi kdalton,

To enable your users to get calls from the main company number, to have their own direct numbers and to make outgoing calls, you would need a main company number, a calling plan for each user and a local or toll free number for each user.  Calling plans normally include one local number and the ability to make unlimited or metered outgoing calls.

Your main company number will be displayed on all outgoing calls from desk phones unless you want to display a user’s direct number.  Any user that needs to make outgoing calls requires a paid calling plan.

In general, Zoom Phone has requirements such as how the main company number is configured and calling plans for users that need to make outgoing calls.

The main company number can be used by external callers to reach your phone users (by dialing the main company number and the user's extension). The main company number can be used by phone users with a calling plan as their caller ID when making calls.

The main company number is assigned to the main auto receptionist. In other words, dialing the main company number will route to the main auto receptionist.

You can also configure the main auto receptionist to forward calls to a call queue with the two users as members.  When a call comes into the main company number, both user vvx 150 phones will ring and either user can pick up the call.

One user with a calling plan can have one or more local and or toll free numbers.  Basic Zoom Phone users (free license) can only have an extension.  While basic users can receive incoming calls through the main auto receptionist, they cannot make outgoing calls except for emergency calls.

Your poly vvx 150 display would show whatever you choose for the direct line and anything else you configure such as a speed dial.

hi kdalton,

one correction -

i said " While basic users can receive incoming calls through the main auto receptionist, they cannot make outgoing calls except for emergency calls. "

I should have said:

"Basic users CANNOT receive incoming calls through the main auto receptionist or a call queue and they cannot make outgoing calls except for emergency calls."

thanks,  eliot
