Hi all,
Is anyone else having problems with Goodstack verification for the Zoom nonprofits discount?
We've spent a month going back and forth with them and while they agree that we are a nonprofit, they say that because of the services we provide (we help people file their tax returns for free through the IRS VITA program) we are considered a "financial services" organization and not eligible.
The eligibility criteria that is on Zoom's website (https://www.zoom.com/en/zoom-cares/#zoomfornonprofits) doesn't say that anything about the types of services a nonprofit needs to provide to be eligible - just the budget size, tax exempt status, and some types of organizations, which we meet. We're a 501(c)(3), budget of under $150k, and not a government, school, hospital, etc.
Is there some secret code or hidden criteria for what organizations Zoom will and will not support? Or some magic words to help Goodstack follow what Zoom says are the requirements for the program on their website?
@CR_Nonprofits - any suggestions to help?
Thanks,
Marea

Hello @NRTaxHelp,
Welcome to the Zoom Community! We're glad to have you here.
I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties you’ve been having with the Goodstack verification process—especially after a month of back-and-forth. I know how frustrating that can be.
To clarify, Zoom’s eligibility requirements for the Zoom Cares nonprofit discount are outlined here in our official support article:
Subscribing to Zoom as a nonprofit organization
These are the criteria Goodstack uses when reviewing organizations for verification. As long as your organization meets the requirements listed—such as being a registered 501(c)(3), having an annual operating budget under the threshold, and not falling into one of the specifically excluded categories—you should be eligible.

Hello Mark, and thanks for the welcome!
We do meet all of those stated criteria - that is what is so frustrating. I've provided copies of our IRS tax exemption (501(c)(3)) letter, our 990-EZ forms showing our budget. I've even included in my communications with Goodstack the same link you provided me, and copied the text of the criteria into the email.
They still continue to say that we're a "financial services" organization and don't meet Zoom's criteria to qualify.
I'll try sending your response as well and see if that makes any difference, and let you know if that was the magic trick to make it work, or if there continues to be a problem with Goodstack not following the stated criteria.
