SIP Devices Joining Zoom Meeting vs Native Zoom Rooms Experience

Hello, How would you compare SIP Devices Joining Zoom Meeting (Using CRC) vs Native Zoom Rooms Experience?

What none limitations are there for devices going through CRC?
What are the key features/Capabilities we would be missing either pre-meeting, in-meeting, or after meeting with SIP CRC devices vs if we moved to Native Zoom rooms?

Thank you!

Hello @fahamdan

The CRC solution was mostly designed for customers who had already heavily invested in other vendor devices and needed a solution to join zoom meetings with their endpoints already in stock. This way they could utilize other gateways like TMS, DMA, or the ever popular CUCM from Cisco but still use our cloud based CRC servers as well.

IMO Zoom Rooms is the way to go. More capabilities, easier to manage and control. H.323 can be unstable at times where as Zoom Rooms has shown much more stable connections and meetings. Both are good but the real determining factor is what your infrastructure and endpoint needs are. We can cater to your orgs needs by using either Zoom Rooms or CRC (h.323/SIP)

I hope that helps in your decisions.

Regards,

Brandon

We are in the midst of switching from SIP/H323 video infrastructure and end points to Zoom Rooms.

If your users are used to Zoom Meetings, then Zoom Room makes for a very natural transition when they go from laptop to conference room. All the icons are the same and all the features are there. None of that happens with SIP/H323 endpoints... unless you like DTMF codes and dial strings.

On the administration side, Zoom admin portal is much cleaner and easier to administrate from vs the platform we're moving from.  It's not even close actually.

On the accounting side, it's a lot easier to manage one Zoom bill vs various maintenance contracts for various endpoints and infrastructure components.

Basically it all comes down to ecosystem. With Zoom you have potential to create a common communication ecosystem in your organization.

Zoom was formed by Eric Yuan, a former Webex employee.
They copied Webex, and accordingly, created a standard SIP product, something that is not my google or microsoft teams.
Standard SIP is what always saves the customer's investment.
They should open their interoperability to standard SIP devices, and stop charging $50 for the CRC connector.
Businesses today need to connect to any of the 4 different meetings out there.
