Capturing captions on recording to cloud

JakeM
Listener

We use the translated captions during a meeting which is great and we save a recording to the cloud. When I watch the converted recording on the cloud, the captions are there. But when I download the recording, the captions have disappeared. I do have the text list of all of the captions, but they are no longer actually on the recording.

How can I get a copy of the recording with the translated captions still on the recording???

Hi JakeM,

Great post! As soon as I read it, I realized I needed this too.  Here is the response I got from Zoom Support:

The transcript is automatically embedded within the audio and video file, but is hidden by default. To see the transcript in the audio or video file you can:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. In the navigation menu, click "Recordings"
  3. Click the name of the recorded meeting.
You will see a list of recording files
  4. Click the play icon.
  5. Click the CC icon at the bottom right of the screen.
The text displays on top of the video, similar to closed captioning.

If someone tries this, let us know how you get on. I have been using Zoom's Fathom plug-in to manage my recordings, and so I don't think this solution will work for me... but if I find it does work, I may switch the way I do recordings.
