Question

New SPAM - Clips

Just received a new email with latest spam technique - “Clips - XYZ Company shared a clip with you”

This time there is even no unsubscribe link in the email so they can keep spamming indefinitely.

Prediction - this will become a real nuisance unless you’re willing to block no-reply@zoom.us (which would kill all legit webinar emails as well).

It is a shame that some bad actors are alwasy trying to undermine the system for their bad deeds.

Hello, how can I like your reply? It’s not helpful! Please fix this problem, you are in noncompliance with the SPAM act

Hello, this has now become common  (Spam via Zoom Clips) is something being done to address this?

Same issue here. https://www.yander.ai/ is using it to send spams. How do we opt out? I guess it's from https://us05web.zoom.us/profile/setting#tab-zoomclips, but I don't see any options for it. The closest is the "Notify me when mentioning me" option but that seems unrelated.

Fun part is they come from no-reply@zoom.us not something more intelligent like clips@zoom.us so you could block these easily. If I block no-reply then invites and everything zoom is blocked.  One would think a company like Zoom would be smarter than this.  We ended up building an email content block because we were getting so many of these and we finally had to put a stop to it. We are a small company but our user base gets about 80 of these a day.

We did the same, we have a Google Workspace rule at the organization level that blocks all clip emails from Zoom.

Zoom needs to get their act in gear faster than this and set up a Clips@ so we can filter this abuse out. It’s getting outrageous.

I’m getting these stupid Zoom Clip spam too. If I mark it as a SPAM, then it will filter out all of my Zoom emails. This is soon going to become a serious issue for Zoom users if it isn’t already.

I agree this is extremely frustrating, maybe Zoom wants us all to switch to a different service

this was driving me nuts so i made a rule: if the subject includes “shared a clip with you” to move it to junk and it’s been working great.

Bumping this up - more spam arriving even when our organization has disabled clips - can’t turn off notifications for clips like we can in other areas.

Bumping this. This is ridiculous. Zoom needs to fix this. Making us create filters in our email isn’t a solution. You’re allowing spammers to just use your product willy nilly to send out trash. You know it’s a problem. Do something about it instead of waiting for enough people to “like” a post.

I’m tempted (and I have the power) to simply ban zoom for our business. Some people will complain, but our preferred platform is actually Google Meet. Depending on how much spam we get, I may just block all mail from no-reply@zoom.us for our entire company and have no regrets. If someone wants to use zoom I won’t block them (but they won’t get invites, login challenges, etc.) They can use a personal account if they really want to use it. Zoom is not officially supported by us and now I guess slowly moving toward banned status. A simple unsubscribe would fix the whole thing.

Unfortunately I can’t stand Google Meet. I don’t love Zoom either, but it works for what I need in my business. It’s just infuriating that it’s over-engineered and has about 40 features I’ll never even use, but they can’t figure out how to stop pieces of crap from using their system to spam people. Seems very lazy and is an incredibly poor user experience.
