Zoom ignores Logitech / LogiTune camera settings

I recently upgraded to a new Macbook Pro with Monterey, and since then Zoom has been giving me problems with the webcam I use for my home office.

I use a Logitech c922 camera with the LogiTune software to crop the camera to focus only on a part of my home office background. However, every time Zoom grabs camera access (including starting a meeting, turning the camera on and off, or even going into video preferences), it treats it as if I am using the default camera settings, ignoring the LogiTune setup.

I can restore the settings by going back to the LogiTune setup process (at which point Zoom recognizes the settings I put in beforehand), but I don't want to be showing my full background for the first 10-15 seconds of each meeting I have.

This is also *only* a Zoom problem -- all other applications that use the camera accept the LogiTune settings without issue. This is also an issue with alternate Logitech software (G Hub) that again works with all other programs.

This issue might be related to another unsolved problem with Logitech cameras not working in HD on new Macs (https://community.zoom.com/t5/Chat/Anybody-else-having-problem-with-Logitech-webcam-with-the-new/m-p/22394#!) since the solutions seem to be similar.

But has anyone found settings in Zoom that can be changed to fix this issue, or any other workaround?

Thanks!

I have additional detail to add to this, as well as requesting a fix. I have users with Logitech BCC950 cameras experiencing similar issues. All my users are on Windows clients, and we have narrowed down the cause as occurring any time that the Group HD setting is turned on. If this setting is turned off, the issues do not occur. If the Group HD setting is ON, my users' cameras will reset their zoom and other settings any time that they are pinned by another user during a meeting. This does not occur if the Group HD setting is turned OFF. Please help!

Just got the C922 Pro camera and realise this problem. Settings all done via LogiTune but when I start Zoom, it ignores these settings. Workaround is to click on the LogiTune app to "reconnect" the camera, wait a few seconds for Zoom to accept the LogiTune settings again. Very annoying

I would like to upvote this. This is particularly annoying for us mac users.

c922 camera and this exact situation. Zoom looks blurry as default, HD checkbox etc. Need to load logitune and then click through items to get to the camera controls/preview for the camera. logitune -> devices -> select c922 -> wait for it to load, and then watch as logitune takes over the driver.

Its so annoying im almost at the point where i need to buy a new camera.

I've been having this issue for a long time as well. I have a semi-solution for it, which is to use the browser version for zoom. It worked for me. Hope that helps some of ya'll.

I will definitely give this a try. Thank you.

To resolve the issue of video settings being overridden, I suggest going to Video Settings during a Zoom call and selecting the radio buttons for Original Ratio, HD, and Mirror My Video. This should do the trick!

Sharing that this continues to be an issue for me. Welcome learning if there is now a fix outside of these less-than-ideal workarounds.

I gave up. I got a new computer and didn' t bother installing LogiTune. That means that I just accept the non-zoomed in view of my MacBook's camera.

I've been experimenting lately with OBS Studio to create a virtual camera and can zoom in on that a bit. The setup is a bit more to do, but may be worthwhile

Agreed.  I uninstalled LogiTune and setup OBS so have multiple ways to present both myself, and my content.  I look better now than most.

Although this thread may be somewhat dated, I thought it might still be useful to contribute. I encountered a similar problem with my Logitech Brio 500 webcam. Whenever I launched Zoom, the camera would automatically zoom in, disregarding any custom settings I had configured through the Logitech G Hub software.

Here is how I resolved this issue:

    1. Open the Zoom desktop app (I use a Mac)

    2. Select Zoom.us in the top left hand corner

    3. Select "Settings"

    4. Select "Video" tab

    5. Under the "Camera" section, make sure the camera you're having with is displayed within the dropdown menu

    6. Check the "HD" box

That's it! You can close the settings window (you don't have to save).

View screenshot of the settings I input which are outlined above

While I can't guarantee this solution will work for everyone, it was effective for me. Below, I've included the specifications of my hardware and software for reference. Hope it helps! 🙂

    Device: Macbook Pro

    OS: Sonoma 14.4

    Camera: Logitech Brio 500

    Brio firmware: 1.0.312

    Logitech G HUB version: 2024.1.515200

Try going in to webcam/camera settings in zoom and click Original Ratio and HD. This doesn't fully fix the issue but it helps

Here's a solution that is working for me. Uninstall Logi Tune and instead install Logi Options+.

It has the same controls as Logi Tune but has eliminated the issues of my Brio settings not working reliably with Zoom

What version of MacOS are you running?  I tried to install Logi Options+ on Sequoia 15.3.1 and it just hangs with a white spinning arrow or says it can't connect to the backend?  Retried, rebooted, redownloaded - same results.  Any tips appreciated.

I'm on Windows 11, so I can't help much there, but I did put your question into ChatGTP and it came back with this:

Here’s a suggestion based on the issue they described with Logi Options+ hanging or failing to connect on macOS Sequoia 15.3.1 (likely referring to macOS Sonoma 14.x or an earlier version). Here’s how they can troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check macOS Compatibility

Ensure that Logi Options+ supports the exact version of macOS they are using. Logitech may not have released a compatible version for macOS Sonoma (if that’s what they mean by Sequoia).

    • Check the official support page for Logi Options+ compatibility updates.

    2. Grant Permissions in macOS Privacy Settings

macOS often blocks third-party apps from running properly due to security and privacy restrictions. They should:

    1. Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab.
    2. Grant access to Logi Options+ under these categories:
      • Input Monitoring
      • Screen Recording
      • Accessibility
    3. Restart the Mac after updating the settings.

    3. Uninstall and Reinstall Logi Options+

There may be a corrupted installation. They should completely remove Logi Options+ and reinstall it.
    Steps to Uninstall:

    1. Use Finder > Applications, then drag Logi Options+ to Trash.
    2. Delete associated files in:
      • /Library/Application Support/Logitech/
      • /Library/Preferences/com.logitech.manager.plist
    3. Reboot the Mac.
    4. Redownload and reinstall Logi Options+ from the Logi Options+ site.

    4. Check for Conflicting Software

Sometimes Logi Tune or other camera-related apps (like Zoom, OBS, or Teams) may conflict with Logi Options+.

    1. Quit all other apps that could access the Brio camera.
    2. Disable or uninstall Logi Tune to avoid conflicts.
    3. Try launching Logi Options+ again.

    5. Verify Internet Connection and Firewall

Since the error mentions "can't connect to the backend," the firewall or a network issue may block it.

    1. Ensure the Mac is connected to the internet.
    2. Disable any VPNs or firewalls temporarily to test.
    3. Check if Logi Options+ servers are down.

    6. Alternative: Use Logi Capture

If Logi Options+ is not essential for field of view adjustment, Logi Capture may offer the necessary controls for the Brio.

    Summary of Suggestions

    1. Check macOS compatibility.
    2. Grant full permissions in Privacy & Security.
    3. Completely uninstall and reinstall Logi Options+.
    4. Ensure no conflicting software (Logi Tune, Zoom) is running.
    5. Verify the network connection and disable firewalls.
