Original Sound for Musicians Toggle Gone

Hi All,

In a recent update, I noticed that I can no longer toggle the original sound for musicians option on the top of the main screen.  I can change it completely in audio settings, but that's a pain if I want to go back and forth during a meeting.  For instance, I teach piano over Zoom.  When I want to play something for a student, I turn original sound on.  But if I'm typing a student's notes, I don't want the clacking of the keyboard to be heard.  So before, it was really easy to toggle on the main screen.  Now it seems you can only change it in audio settings.

Anyone else having an issue with this or has found a solution like a shortcut?

Thanks.

Welcome to the Zoom Community, @Pianonmanross.

Big change! Original Sound for Musicians no longer needs to be activated each meeting. Go down to the caret ^ by the Audio button and see the ability to change sound settings there. Whatever you set should be persistent between sessions.

UPDATE:

As many others have already said, this "improvement " is anything but.  I, too, lead meditation sessions, and the ability to toggle on and off easily, as one used to be able to do with one click of the button in the upper right hand corner, is way more convenient than clicking on the arrow on the bottom.  Also, it would be super helpful to be able to set Original Sound for Musicians as the default audio setting, which also seems to have disappeared.  PLEASE FIX THIS, ZOOM!

I’ll add my voice to this chorus. I toggle original sound on/off multiple times during piano lessons, and this update makes it very awkward. Please change it back.

Starting in Zoom 7.0.0 this problem has been addressed in a way that works for my use case and hopefully yours too. I’m using the Mac version, hopefully others have this too.

Once you start your meeting you can click the arrow next to the audio button and from the list that appears choose “Audio settings”, for me it is at the very bottom. This used to open the settings window with the Audio tab selected, but in 7.0.0 it opens an embedded panel at the right of the window with all the audio settings in the main window. This is the same area where you see Participants and Chats. You may have to scroll to find Microphone modes, but there are radio buttons for switching between “Noise removal” and “Original sound for musicians” and more, only 1 click away.

You seem to be limited to two of these panels, if you try to open a third the oldest one closes, so be aware of that.
